SOCIAL INNOVATOR
I currently eat, breathe, dream Solve Education!, an education technology not-for-profit with the mission of delivering quality education to everyone, focussing on the BOP (Bottom of Pyramid) demographic. As CEO, I am particularly passionate about leveraging technology to solve social problems in a systematic, scalable and sustainable way.
I am most recently appointed as Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s high-level Advisory Group on Digital Technology for Development.
Education is the key to solve the many challenges we face in the world today, and because of this, I am an avid speaker on topics like education, edtech, gender equality and poverty alleviation. I also try to contribute wherever I can, as a board member and as a mentor.
I have been privileged to be the first Asian to receive the International Intellectual Benefits to Society Award 2018 by Mensa International. I am also a fellow of University of Pennsylvania - Global Social Impact House, 2019.
Here are some other recognitions I have received:
- Lancome Visionary Award 2019
- Great Women of Our Time 2019 nominee by Women's Weekly
- “51 Most Impactful Social Innovators” 2019 by World CSR Day
- Women Super Achievers Award 2019 by World HRD Congress
- Education Leader award 2017 by the World Education Congress.
On a more geeky note, my research paper on Solve Education!: "How gaming, artificial intelligence and big data is changing education" is published in International Conference on Game, Game Art and Gamification 2016 (ICGGAG). You can read it here. I have also published my research on Performance prediction tools for parallel discrete-event simulation in IEEE, ACM and SCS conferences in 2005. You can read it here.
MENTORING
Mentoring is a great way to contributing back to the ecosystem, and coaching the next generation is what I enjoy doing. I mentor:
Innovation Lab for SDGs
BOARD MEMBER
On top of being in the board of Solve Education!, I am also on the advisory board of YCAB - ranked #40 in the world's top 500 NGOs (http://www.ycabfoundation.org/en/), as I feel that SE! is aligned with their mission.
OTHERS
I fund underprivileged female entrepreneurs in developing countries through Kiva.
I support UN Women because I am passionate about gender equality and the empowerment of women.
Solve Education!
All around the globe, there are 263 million children who don’t have access to a quality education. Big challenge? Absolutely. Solvable? Definitely.
Our fun, engaging technology solution puts learning in the hands of kids. So they can gain knowledge, grow, and thrive.
“Many challenging problems can be solved with well-built technology. The global education gap is no exception.”
